Why I like Priyanka Chopra
Well unless you are living in a cave in a remote island in the Pacific, you cannot Priyanka Chopra. She seems to be everywhere. I am usually ambivalent about film stars and models because I genuinely feel that they are overpaid ( and well grapes are sour too). However, I must say I admire Mrs Jonas ( this has nothing to do with the fact that we both come from Jamshedpur)
Let me give you my reasons. Yes she has made it big as an actress in India. But then many have. What is unique about here is that her personality has many facets. The fact that she could launch a music album in a different country and become a star in a new country is something that requires some chutzpah and commands respect. Its her confidence in herself that is amazing. I am sure there might be others as talented but having the guts to try something completely different especially when you are comfortably famous and doing well for yourself is rare. It shows a drive and an unquenching desire to conquer unchartered territories. This is what I admire most in her.
And hats off to her that she has managed to make it big even in the US. A PEOPLE magazine spread on an Indian wedding, that was a first I believe! And she seems to have the right network too managing to get an invitation to royal weddings ( both monarchic and oligarchic;))
Also perhaps I am biased towards her because I believe the pretty face and sexy body mask a fierce intellectual which I find rare in the glamour industry. Her views seem to be balanced and thought through. I see her as an assertive feminist- somebody who does not say give me equal pay but through her personality demands equal pay. She seems to be a good role model for women.
Lets see where she goes.
