The Royal Indian Wedding

Who says India has no aristocracy any longer. We do. Didn’t you see Isha Ambani’swedding? Was it short of Prince’s Harry’s wedding? They even had common guests!
The  power of anonymity is enormous and I guess nobody would ever read this blog which gives me the full freedom to write what I am going to below. However, in a parallel world, if you do happen to read this please know I have utmost reverence  for the Ambanis  like I have for all powerful and influential people. Also I don’t know them personally so this article is purely based on what I read.

How would I describe the wedding? LOUD. There is no harm in being loud and that is what some people prefer. I am fine with that. But to me it was not tasteful.

‘ It is always better to be slightly underdressed’

Well I just hope that the guests and hosts had just taken this one piece of advice. And oh what a beautiful wedding it could have been.

There were no dearth of jewels in the wedding and all the stars came down from their heavenly abodes to attend it. There was a lot of glitterati but unfortunately very little glamor. A lot of shine but very little class.

However I do admire the fact how grounded the family is and how firmly rooted to Indian traditions. They even made Beyonce go desi!

But the invitation. I liked the concept and the thoughts but the presentation. Honestly there was a lot of pink and gold. The pink with the flowers made it childish and the golden boxes made it look like a fancy paan box. I could have designed better invitation cards. I don’t blane the Ambanis but the people who designed their card.

Last but not the least the Aarti. Did they really need such a big image of God? Maybe they did given the number of guests. Other wise people seated in the last rows could not see it.

What I also loved is the sycophancy of the who’s who to the Ambanis. There is nothing wrong in that again. If i was invited, I would probably do the same. But I must say they are the harbingersof unity for India. Where else do you see people from different religions, political parties, professions dancing together joyously to the tunes of Bollywood songs! Who says India is not united! Also we know who rules India irrespective of the political party in power

What did we learn from Isha’s wedding? Well don’t we all know it- Money makes the world go around!
